This summer we would like to introduce you to the people at Born Technology.  They are building and supporting the reliable, flexible and unprecedented solutions that connect you to the marketplace.  This week we invite you to learn more about our Director of Sales, Ihor Andrushko.

1.What is your name, title, and responsibilities at Born Technology?

Ihor Andrushko, I am the Director of Sales at Born Technology.  I am responsible for helping industry firms determine their technology and product needs that best suit their trading, trade flow and compliance requirements.  I also work on our marketing and business outreach efforts.

2. How does your work impact the company’s offering?

Sales is instrumental in being the voice of our company.  I have also learned a lot about what our clients need in terms of compliance and regulatory requirements.  I have become an advocate for firms in our industry to help them meet these evolving needs.

3. What is the best part of your job?

Connecting with people, building relationships, and providing industry colleagues with the right information and guidance. It feels great when you have the opportunity to deliver the best solution to fit their firm’s goals.

4. What is the most challenging part of your job?

After learning a lot about what our clients need to stay compliant with various regulations such as; MiFID II, EMIR, Dodd Frank, etc., I have found that many industry firms don’t even realize they need to make certain changes.  Informing firms that initially don’t know they fall under this umbrella has been a challenge.

5. What was your first job?

Working at a local grocery store. The best part of my job was helping customers find what they needed quickly while putting a smile on their face. Don’t forget all the juices I got to drink 🙂

6. How did you get into the derivatives industry?

While attending college I was also selling shoes part-time. A trader who frequented the store mentioned to me that I may be interested in the trading industry. He said I had a lot of drive and energy and to consider looking into it. He thought I would like the challenge, the pace, and the controlled chaos found on the trading floor, he was right.

7. How has the industry changed since you started in it?

From floor trading to electronic trading; technology has had a major impact on the evolution of our industry. Technology has also created new opportunities, but not without its many growing pains.

8. What was the best piece of advice you ever received?

Don’t live in yesterday. Don’t fear tomorrow. Just live for today.

9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Nerja, Spain. The southern coast of Spain along the Mediterranean is a beautiful and relaxing place.

10. What is your favorite sports team?

Golf is my game. I love it, I play it, and watch it. There are too many players that I like to only pick one. However if I had to pick my top three who are currently playing I would say Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, ok I’ll throw in a 4th one, Tommy Fleetwood. I’d like to say with Tiger coming back this year, looking healthier than ever I hope he stays fit. With him ranking in the top spots since his recent return, I believe he’s great for golf as he has a huge following and the younger top players are excited to compete against him too. How cool is that!

11. If you could go to coffee with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?

My Dad. People who live a very long life have a lot of experience to offer you, you just need to learn to ask them the right questions. I’m glad I talk to my dad about his experience and wisdom, and didn’t wait for him to offer it to me. What I learned was priceless, what a dad what a teacher!
