Introducing Lennie Cannizzaro, Vice President at Born Technology

Born Technology is a team of experts at the center of markets and technology. We are committed to finding better ways to tackle the toughest technology challenges facing institutional trading firms today. This summer we would like to introduce you to the people at Born Technology. They are building and supporting the reliable, flexible and unprecedented solutions that connect you to the marketplace. This week we invite you to learn more about our Vice President Lennie Cannizzaro.

  1.         What is your name, title and responsibilities at Born Technology?

My name is Lennie Cannizzaro and I am Vice-President of Born Technology. Born is a very hands on firm so we all share a wide range of responsibilities.  Some of the areas I am involved in include operations, sales, project management and customer relationship management.

  1.             How does your work impact the company’s offering?

Born offers customized solutions to address technology requirements and issues in the trading space.  My work helps traders make sure they receive the solutions that best fit their needs.

  1.              What is the best part of your job?

I like working directly with the customers to provide successful solutions and seeing how Born’s services directly impact their operations.

  1.              How did you get into the derivatives industry?

One of my friends was a futures trader in London.  When the LIFFE exchange closed their open outcry pits, he moved to Chicago and talked me into the world of futures.  I decided to give it a shot and moved up from New Orleans in 1999.  My first job was at the CBOT in the Dow futures open outcry pit as a clerk.

  1.             What was the best piece of advice you ever received?

When you are handed the ball, run with it!  Run until you are told to stop running. Then keep running… until you get tackled.

When you are responsible for a project, keep it moving forward.  Different forces will try to prevent your progress or hold you back.  Don’t let them get in the way, keep it moving until you succeed.

  1.         Do you have any siblings and where do you fit in to the chronological?

I don’t have any siblings but have made many friendships that are like family.

  1.         Do you have any pets?

No pets but I do have three little kids.  Their noses are cold and they are all housebroken.

  1.         If you could go to coffee with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?

That would be my Dad.  He hasn’t been gone very long but everyday life presents new questions and challenges. The more answers I have, the better father I can be to my kids.
